Holy cow. Today was a mess. The first 3 hours were devoted to orientation and general info about the program. Between 11:30 and 1pm we were all supposed to have lunch (pizza! Woohoo!), get our books and uniforms at the bookstore, and get our pictures taken for Student IDs. We were divided into 3 groups of 10, and were supposed to rotate every half hour. HA! My group ate lunch first, then stood in line at the bookstore for 50 minutes. You would think that, knowing a new group was starting today, the bookstore people might have some of the stuff ready beforehand, right? Wrong. Every student had to go through the same (excruciatingly slow) process: step up, give guy #1 your name and social security number, sign your name on an electronic pad, waaaaaaiiiiiiitt for the receipt to print, hear a dumb joke from guy #2 while you wait, tell guy #1 what size uniform pieces you want, wait for guy #2 to find your pieces (oh, we ran out of your size of labcoat, come back for it next week!), watch guy #2 shuffle behind the shelves and come back with a 3 foot high stack of books, hear another dumb joke or two while your books are crammed into bags, lug all these books out to your car, then go back to the classroom for several hours of anatomy lecture. Oy. At least the instructor waited until everyone got back to the room (and got some pizza) to start actual course content. I have 7 chapters of A&P and 3 chapters of Nursing Fundamentals to read; maybe I’ll be back sometime tomorrow.

Feeling quite whelmed,

Teenie
